About Sertshang Home

Sertshang Home is a caring home for 23 children and young people between the ages of 9 and 18. Many of them come from remote mountain regions, where their families face significant challenges such as poverty, health issues, and difficult living conditions. In some cases, parents with many children have had to make the painful decision to entrust their youngest to the care of the home, hoping to offer them a better future.
At Sertshang Home, education is a priority. Currently, fourteen children attend the Bodhisattva School, while seven young people are enrolled in high school. Beyond basic education, the home continues to support young adults over the age of 18 by helping them pursue higher education or vocational training—guiding them until they are able to live independently, both economically and socially.
Since its establishment in 2002, more than one hundred young people have grown up in Sertshang Home. Most have gone on to learn a profession or complete their studies. They often describe their time at the home as a turning point in their lives and remain deeply grateful for the opportunities and support they received.
Even after leaving, many continue to stay closely connected. They proudly call themselves part of the “Sertshang Family,” referring to one another as brothers and sisters. Together, they maintain strong relationships, collaborate on projects, and sometimes even build small businesses as a community.
This growing network of young adults represents a powerful and supportive community with diverse skills and potential. Many are actively involved in social initiatives, driven by a shared belief in giving back. Some have even formed a “Students Club,” working toward the common good under the motto:
“Help others – Life is beautiful.”
